HUBUNGAN ALOKASI BEASISWA TAU SAMAWA TERHADAP JUMLAH MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI DI UNIVERSITAS TEKNOLOGI SUMBAWA

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between the allocation of Tau Samawa Scholarship and the number of students in Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa (UTS) from 2021 to 2023. The Tau Samawa Scholarship, aimed at students from Sumbawa Regency and West Sumbawa Regency, is analyzed with a focus on its impact on higher education access in the region. Secondary data on student admissions and scholarship allocations from the Unit For New Student Admission  UTS were analyzed using a quantitative correlation method with a sample of 19 study programs. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between the allocation of Tau Samawa Scholarship and the number of students, with a different correlation pattern each year. In 2021, the correlation was low with a value of 0.22, indicating a limited effect. However, in 2022 and 2023, the correlation increased significantly to very strong, with values of 0.972 and 0.8000, respectively. This suggests that the Tau Samawa Scholarship is demonstrating increasing effectiveness in improving higher education access for students from underprivileged families in Sumbawa. These findings support the continuation and expansion of the Tau Samawa Scholarship to reach more outstanding students from Sumbawa. The study also recommends evaluating and optimizing the scholarship program's strategies to ensure its success in achieving its desired goals, namely increasing quality and equitable access to higher education for all Indonesians.
