Abstract

The University student is a group of youth who require high nutrition intake because of their diverse physical activities. The boarding house is an alternative settlement for university students who are separated from their own house, possibly giving different consumption patterns. This research aimed to assess the consumption pattern and sort of food consumed by students of the Sumbawa University of Technology who lived in boarding houses. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 30 respondents for 5 consecutive days by using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQ-FFQ). The results showed that average macro- and micronutrient daily consumption was under recommended intakes. Meanwhile, sodium was over-consumed due to over-snack consumption. Cereals and tubers were the most-consumed food group. Balanced nutrition education is needed for improving nutrition status which can cover adequate daily intake of nutrition.
