Abstract

This study aims to examine the wafa method in improving the tahfidz of the Qur'an in the
Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT) Samawa Cendekia Sumbawa. SDIT Samawa Cendekia
Sumbawa is an Islamic general educational institution at the elementary level in Sumbawa Regency
which has excellence in the field of Islam and other general achievements. One of the flagship
programs at SDIT Samawa Cendekia Sumbawa is Tahfidz Qur'an. Where for tahfidz Qur'an, using the
Wafa method. The purpose of this research is to find out the urgency of applying the Wafa Method in
improving Tahfidz Al-Qur'an at SDIT Samawa Cendekia Sumbawa.
This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques using observation,
interviews with informants and documentation. Data analysis includes data reduction, data
presentation and drawing conclusions.
The results of the study are: 1) Teacher preparation for tahfidz Al-Qur'an at SDIT Samawa
Cendekia Sumbawa using the wafa method with the TANDUR strategy (Grow, Experience, Name,
Demonstrate, Repeat, Celebrate) and the application of 5P (Opening, Experience, Teaching, Assessment, closing). 2) Implementation of the wafa method at SDIT Samawa Cendekia Sumbawa
helps stimulate the development of a mindset in tahfidz Qur'an. 3) The evaluation process for
memorizing the Qur'an at SDIT Samawa Cendekia Sumbawa is carried out in the midterm and final
exam evaluation by the Al-Qur'an teacher, the Al-Qur'an tasmi test team and the wafa coordinator. 4)
Factors supporting the application of the wafa method in tahfidz Al-Qur'an at SDIT Samawa Cendekia
Sumbawa, are: enthusiasm and enthusiasm of students, teachers who have certified wafa methods
and adequate learning facilities. While the inhibiting factors are differences in the character and
abilities of students and the abilities of different teachers.
Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the implementation of the wafa
method on tahfidz of the Qur'an at SDIT Samawa Cendekia uses the TANDUR strategy (Grow,
Experience, Name, Demonstrate, Repeat, Celebrate) and the application of 5P (Opening, Experience,
Teaching, Assessment, Closing ). The use of the wafa method at SDIT Samawa Cendekia involves the
right brain helping children to remain happy in memorizing the Qur'an.The evaluation process for tahfidz
Al-Qur'an at SDIT Samawa Cendekia Sumbawa is the evaluation of midterm exams and evaluation of
final semester exams. The supporting factors for the application of the wafa method in tahfidz Al-
Qur'an at SDIT Samawa Cendekia, namely: enthusiasm and enthusiasm of students, teachers who
have been certified with the wafa method and adequate learning facilities. While the inhibiting factors
are the differences in the character and abilities of students in tahfidz Al-Qur'an and also the different
abilities of teachers.
