Abstract

One of the causes of the low percentage of students' absorption of graduates of SMK Negeri 1 Taliwang
in the world of work is the level of speaking skills. Speaking skills are the most important thing in the
learning process. This study aims to determine how the process and influence of the application of the
interrelation-based learning model in learning English to improve speaking skills. The type of research
used is experimental research with one group pretest posttest design. Sources of data in the study were
students of SMK Negeri 1 Taliwang with Multimedia expertise competence in carrying out English
language learning. The results obtained that the average speaking skills of students before the
application of the interrelation-based learning model was 42.78 and after the application of the
interrelation-based model to 78.21 in a score range of 0 to 100. English in improving the speaking skills
of SKM Negeri 1 Taliwang students with Multimedia expertise competence. So it can be concluded that
there are differences in students' speaking skills in English lessons between before and after the
application of the interrelation-based learning model. This interrelation-based learning model is
expected to be used as a reference for the implementation of English language learning at the SMK
level, especially in West Sumbawa Regency.
