TRADISI PONAN SEBAGAI MODAL SOSIAL DALAM MENINGKATKAN DAYA TARIK WISATAWAN DAN DAMPAKNYA TERHADAP PEREKONOMIAN MASYARAKAT DESA POTO

Abstract

The Ponan tradition is a form of social capital and local wisdom of the community/farmers in Sumbawa, precisely in Poto Village, Moyo Hilir District. In the implementation of this tradition requires a fairly large cost, which according to the paradigm of economics of course increases the cost of production of farmers. This ponan tradition is considered unique because it is carried out after the planting season is over when the rice is one month old. This study aims to: Assess whether the implementation of the Ponan tradition can become a tourist attraction and how the resulting economic impact is. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection methods using interview techniques on selected informants. The analysis used is qualitative analysis. The results of the study concluded that the implementation of the ponan tradition was able to attract tourists, both local and foreign tourists. This is also supported by the nickname of Poto Village as a Cultural Village with local wisdom and celebration of i ts unique ponan tradition. Currently the ponan tradition is a leading tourism sector, especially in Poto Village. So that in the future economic activities will run easily and effectively as expected together, of course, it cannot be separated from the support from related agencies. With the implementation of the ponan tradition every year, it certainly touches small communities, especially micro business actors such as the existence of a weaving center in Poto Village, which can support the economy of Sumbawa Regency.
