Abstract

Water is substance or matter that is extremely important for life. Especially for living bering, Including humans, to meet their daily. Humans require for varios daily needs such as drinking, cooking, bathing, washing, and so on. It is not essential for household purposes but also vital for industries, livestock, agriculture, spots,firefighting, and more. Water quality has several parameters that must meet the requirements stated in the Indonesian Ministry of Healt Regulaion No. 32 0f 2017, ensuring that the water is safe and sutable of use. This research aims to characterize the water from ther fiktration of a household-scale water treatment system using various types od activated charcoal, determining ehether the water is dafe and sutable for use. The method used involves testing water using 4 fifferent filtration devices, each with different variations, and repeating the process 4 times, resulting in a total of 16 samples. These samples are the subjected to water quality testing  The results of this study indicate that the use of activated charcoal made from coconut shell significantly affects the pH, TDS (Total Dissolved Solid), Temperature,color, and taste of the water. However, it does not have a significant effect on the odor of the water. This proves that using a greater variety of activated charcoal improves the water filtration process because the longer the contact time between water and activated charcoal, the greater the absorption of substances present in the water. Therefore, using 700 grams of activated charcoal variation yields good results in water purification.
