THE INFLUENCE OF SIBLING RIVALRY ON AGGRESSIVENESS IN ADOLESCENTS IN SUMBAWA
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out how sibling rivalry influences aggressiveness in adolescents in Sumbawa. This study uses a quantitative research approach using data collection tools, namely the sibling rivalry scale and the aggressiveness scale. The data analysis technique in this study used a simple linear regression test with the help of the SPSS application version 26.0 for windows. The population in this research was taken from one of the junior high schools in Sumbawa, namely SMPN 1 Sumbawa. In this study, the sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique with the characteristics of teenagers who were studying at the junior high school level (SMP) and having siblings with an age gap below 5 years, namely 82 people. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant positive influence between sibling rivalry and aggressiveness with a regression coefficient of 0.299 and a significance value (Sig.) p = 0.001. The positive effect indicates that the higher the sibling rivalry, the higher the aggressiveness and vice versa, if the sibling rivalry is lower, the lower the aggressiveness. The results of the large percentage of the influence of sibling rivalry on aggressiveness is 12.5% (R square = 0.125) while the other 87.5% is caused by other factors that are not related to this study.
