Abstract

ABSTRACT

With technological developments, students can have access to educational platforms via smartphones. Smartphone use has both positive and negative0consequences. The positive consequence is that it makes it easier to get information. While the negative consequences lead to Fear of Missing Out, their existence creates negative behavior, namely Phubbing behavior. The approach used is quantitative research. The type of research used is quantitative correlation. The population in this study were all active students from the Psychology University of Technology, Sumbawa, totaling 254 students. The technique used is purposive sampling and uses the krejcie table to determine the number of samples of 130 samples. Based0on the findings of research0conducted at the Psychology Study Program, University of Technology, Sumbawa, it can be said that there is a strong relationship between the variables Fear of Missing Out (X) and Phubbing Behavior (Y). Based on the findings of research conducted at the Psychology Study Program, University0of Technology, Sumbawa, it was found that the Fear of Missing Out variable had a small effect on phubbing behavior with a coefficient of determination of 0.327, the two variables had a strong relationship based on a correlation coefficient of 0.572. The effect of Fear0of Missing out on Phubbing Behavior in psychology students at the Sumbawa University of Technology yields n significance (Sig.) 0.001 <0.05. Suggestions for Students Improving the quality of social interaction with other interlocutors around. Don't focus on smartphones and ignore other people when interacting, both in casual discussions and important discussions.
