Abstract

Local wisdom represents the harmonious relationship between humans, nature, and the environment in a particular region, which is also influenced by culture. In the current era of globalization and modernization, many places have forgotten their culture. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to and preserve this culture. One interesting example of Indonesian local culture or tradition is the Ponan celebration ceremony. The Ponan Festival is an annual tradition of the people of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, which is rich in local values. Hence, this research aims to examine the local wisdom contained in the traditional Ponan celebration ceremony of the Sumbawa community. The research method used is qualitative descriptive method through literature studies related to the context of local wisdom. The results of the research show that the local wisdom in the traditional Ponan celebration ceremony includes love for the environment, religious aspect, social values, tradition, and culture. However, this local wisdom needs to be adapted to the development of time.
