TESTING THE INHIBITION OF OXALIS TRIANGULARIS JUICE AGAINST PROPIONIBACTERIUM ACNE AND ESCHERICHIA COLI BACTERIA
Keywords:
Antibacterial, Escherichia coli, Oxalis triangularis, Propionibacterium acneAbstract
This research aims to see the potential of Oxalis triangularis, which contains anthocyanin compounds, as an antibacterial against Propionibacterium acne and Escherichia coli. The antibacterial test method uses the disc diffusion method with 3 repetitions for each treatment, and the positive control used is gentamicin. The results of the study showed that the inhibition zone formed in the positive control gentamicin against Escherichia coli bacteria was 23 mm and for Propionibacterium acne it was 25 mm, while the average zone of inhibition in the treatment using Oxalis triangularis juice against Escherichia coli bacteria was 18.67 mm and for Propionibacterium acne it was not. indicates that an inhibition zone has formed. Therefore, it can be concluded that Oxalis triangularis leaf juice has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli but does not have antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne.
