Abstract

The cost of electricity is one of the expenses of Sumbawa University of Technology.
UTS won a government grant in 2020 for a Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a
capacity of 25,000 Wp, with the goal of lowering UTS's electricity expenses. This
study was conducted out to assess investment feasibility, evaluate the efficiency of
utilizing electricity costs and propose strategies for the long-term viability of Rooftop
Solar Power Plant at UTS if development is carried out independently. The quantita-
tive research approach utilized in this study was used to examine the significance of
internal components and external impacts and to evaluate the feasibility and econom-
ic worth of these factors. According to the findings, Rooftop Solar Power Plant’s in-
vestment is stated to be viable, with discounted payback period of 9 years 11 months
6 days. With the presence of Rooftop Solar Power Plant, electricity costs are reduced
by 35% per month. The strategy for the long-term utilization of Rooftop Solar Power
Plant is to exploit UTS's strength in having renewable energy cooperation partners
and establish strong relationships with renewable energy companies for renewable
energy research, development, and implementation projects.
