Climate change is a phenomenon caused by global warming that can affect life systems in land, sea
and coastal areas such as decreased productivity of seaweed, thereby affecting the economic stability
of seaweed farming communities and other coastal communities that depend on seaweed business.
Therefore this study aims to determine the effect of climate change on the seaweed cultivating
environment, the resilience of seaweed cultivating communities to climate change disasters and to
formulate strategies to increase the resilience of seaweed cultivating communities in tackling the
impacts of climate change that occurred in Labuhan Kertasari Village, West Sumbawa Regency. . The
research method used is a combination method (mixed methods) by combining quantitative and
qualitative methods.. The results showed that climate change can trigger changes in weather resulting
in fluctuating changes in water quality and can cause damage to seaweed. Resilience is carried out by
adjusting cropping patterns, using appropriate seeds and partly processing seaweed. Based on the
SWOT analysis, the strategy to increase resilience that must be carried out is to utilize strengths to
take opportunities, namely: developing other types of seaweed, developing seaweed seeds to be
marketed outside the West Sumbawa Regency area, strengthening the capacity of seaweed cultivators
regarding climate change and disaster mitigation, increasing quantity and quality of seaweed
processing groups, and develop the latest technology suitable for seaweed cultivation conditions.
