ANALISIS PENGARUH GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN TERHADAP PENERAPAN GOOD UNIVERSITY GOVERNANCE DI UNIVERSITAS TEKNOLOGI SUMBAWA

Abstract

University as an organization providing higher education, research and community
service, is required to be able to manage higher education in a planned, directed and
sustainable manners by applying the principles of Good University Governance
(GUG). In GUG, one of the determining factors for successful implementation is
leadership style. In this case, the role of a top leader is very important in carrying out
and controlling policies in the implementation of GUG. This study aims to analyze the
leadership style at the Sumbawa University of Technology (UTS), analyze the
influence of leadership style on the implementation of GUG and analyze the
appropriate leadership style in the implementation of GUG. The samples of this study
were lecturers and educational staff of UTS and using a random sampling technique
with a total sample of 84 people. Data collection techniques utilized a questionnaire
and Structural Equation Model-SEM with PLS estimation is used as statistical
analytical method. The results show that (1) Top leader of the UTS applies an
integrative leadership style which is a combination of transformative, authoritarian,

laissez faire and innovative leadership styles, (2) Transformative leadership styles
provides a significant influence on the implementation of GUG, meanwhile each
authoritarian, laissez faire and innovative leadership styles does not have a
significant effect on the implementation of GUG. However, once the four leadership
styles were applied, it resulted the significant influence on the implementation of
GUG and (3) the appropriate leadership style in the implementation of GUG is an
integrative leadership style.
