Abstract

The people of Medang Island and Moyo Island have enjoyed electricity which support
by Diesel Generator in every isolated systems, there are Medang, Sebotok and
Labuan Aji, but not yet in 24 hours due to the difficulty of fuel transportation to the
site. In addition, based on data from NASA, Moyo Island and Medang Island have a
fairly good solar intensity, so they are potentially to be utilized by solar power plants.
Therefore, one of the feasible work to make electricity utilized those isolated systems
continuously 24 hours is to make Hybrid Powerplant form both Diesel Generators and
Solar PV which coupled with Batteries. The operation of this Hybrid PLT is simulated
using the HOMER PRO software with 3 scenarios for each location, namely the
current condition, the condition when the Diesel Generators are operated 24 hours
and the condition when the Hybrid Powerplant is operating. The results show us the
conclusion that operate Hybrid Powerplant is the most efficient scenario compared to
the other 2 scenarios. Along with that, the optimum operational composition based on
installed powerplants from Hybrid Powerplant whereas Solar PV are the largest
supplier energy such as at Medang System it supplies up to 55,60% of total a year, at Sebotok System it supplies up to 84,40% of total a year and at Labuan Aji System it supplies up to 90,30% of total a year. The details of the cost savings obtained during
25-year project period, as Medang System worth Rp 4,62 billion, Sebotok System
worth Rp 5,12 billion and Labuan Aji System worth Rp 6,48 billion. Then in terms of
fuel (HSD) savings, this Hybrid Powerplant on those 3 locations, the savings worth
$3,56 million or Rp 52,36 billion.
