The low competence of students in science learning, especially at SDN 1 Labuhan Sumbawa, is due to the conventional methods implemented by teachers in monotonous learning and have not been able to develop students' creative abilities, and critical thinking power. Thus, innovation is needed in designing and implementing effective learning to achieve meaningful and interesting learning goals for learners. Learning will be successful if there is a harmonious teaching and learning process. The teaching and learning process cannot take place only in one direction, but from various directions (multidirection) so as to allow students to learn from various existing learning sources. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the steps and effects of applying technology-based media can improve the competence of students. The method used in this study is a mixed method (a mixture of quantitative and qualitative) with a research design patterned nonequivalent control group design. The research instruments used are tests, skill assessment guidelines and guidelines for assessing student attitudes in learning. The test is used as a measuring tool that has been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty of questions and the differentiation of questions. To analyze the influence of the application of technology-based media in improving student competence using paired sample t-test analysis through the spss 22 application with the acquisition of a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 smaller than the calculated significance (0.05) it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected so that there is a difference in the average pretest and posttest scorestowards increasing the competence of students through the application of technology-based media means that there is an increase in student competence before and after the application of technology-based media in science learning. The conclusion is that the application of technology-based media in learning has an effect in improving the competence of elementary school students.
