Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of Mahar Women and Socio-Economic Status, Kubayaan, and wedding processions starting from Bajajak, Bakatoan, Saputes Leng, Nyorong, Barodak, Marriage and Basai Against Cultural Construction in Sumbawa Regency. Sumbawa. There are two objectives of this research, namely to find out how the public's perception or view of dowries and to find out why social status is the benchmark for dowry marriages in Penyaring Village, North Moyo District, Sumbawa Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach. In collecting data using interview techniques. Testing the validity of the data used is method triangulation, theoretical triangulation, and triangulation, in qualitative data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results showed that the determination of the dowry value was seen from the level of education, economic status and social status of the community, the higher the position of a community, the higher the dowry that would be delivered. The amount of gifts given varies greatly depending on the ability of the men, but typically in the village community the filter is around 30-60 million and even up to 100 million for people who have a high position in terms of social status. And the culture that exists in the midst of society is still realized today.
