Corn is a plant whose seeds are urgently needed as the main ingredient for the food industry, can be consumed directly by humans and is mostly used as a raw material for the animal feed industry. The purpose of this study is to know the process of processing corn kernels, to analyze the factors that cause defects and to formulate improvement proposals to reduce the number of defects in corn kernels at PT Santosa Utama Lestari. This study uses the DMAIC method for quality control, namely define, measure, analyze, improve and control. The results of the data that have been analyzed show that there are four types of defects that occur, namely dead corn kernels, moldy corn kernels, cracked corn kernels and corn kernels containing foreign objects. Defects that occur in the processing of corn kernels indicate that there are data that are outside the control limits after calculations with the p control chart, namely UCL (upper control limit) of and LCL (lower control limit) of , from the Pareto diagram Of the four defects, 42% of the dead corn kernels were damaged, 37% of the corn kernels were moldy, 12% of the corn kernels were broken and 9% of the corn kernels had foreign objects. Factors causing these problems are influenced by human elements, materials, methods, environment and machines. The suggestion from this study is that improvements should be made by providing counseling to farmers on how to harvest corn seeds properly.
