ANALISIS REPRESENTASI JURNALIS DALAM SERIAL “THE JOURNALIST” 2022

Abstract

Violence against journalists and the uncertainty of press freedom are not new in the world of journalism. This becomes interesting when violence in the form of pressure and press freedom can be shown in a series. The purpose of this research is to find out and describe the representation of journalists in the series entitled "The Journalist" 2022 contained in each scene in the perspective of the Universal Journalistic Code of Ethics and those in Indonesia. The focus of this research lies on the profession of journalists in the series. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method using semiotic analysis from Charles Sanders Peirce with a triadic analysis model of sign, object, and interpretant as well as three meanings of icons, indices, and symbols. The results of this study found that the representation of journalists is shown from the activities carried out, namely news planning, coverage and challenges, writing and editing and publishing news in accordance with the Universal Journalistic Code of Ethics and those in Indonesia. There were also violations of the Journalistic Code of Ethics committed by Matsuda Anna, namely violating the personal rights of sources. This was caused by several factors, namely personal motivation and government.
