Abstract

This study is entitled "The Effect of Risk Perception, Materialism and Compulsive Buying on Debt Tendencies" which aims to test Risk Perception of the effect on the Tendency of Debt to the Millennial Generation, to test the effect of Materialism on the Tendency to Owe to the Millennial Generation, to test Compulsive Buying the effect on the Tendency to Owe to the Millennial Generation in Sumbawa District. This research uses quantitative methods. The data sources used by the authors in this study are primary data. Data collection in this study used a questionnaire or questionnaire instrument which was then distributed online through google form or gave directly to 100 respondents who were millennial generation people in Sumbawa District. The characteristics of the subjects in this study were divided into 4, namely based on the respondent's occupation, monthly income, gender and age of the respondent. Risk Perception variables have a positive and significant influence on the Tendency to Debt, the millennial generation in Sumbawa District dares to make risky decisions and is ready to face risks. The variables of materialism have no influence on debt tendencies, because their finances may not support making purchases or accumulating debt. Individuals who tend to make compulsive purchases may not be able to resist the temptation to purchase goods or services that were not planned in advance, even if they did not have sufficient funds
