STRATEGI KOMISI PEMILIHAN UMUM DALAM MENINGKATKAN PARTISIPASI PEMILIH PADA PILKADA TAHUN 2020

The purpose of this research is to find out how the efforts of the Sumbawa Regency KPU are to increase voter participation in the 2020 Pilkada. This research uses a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach using the interview method. The results of this study indicate that the Sumbawa Regency KPU strategy in increasing voter participation in the 2020 regional elections from the results of analysis and interview results shows an increase in participation in the 2020 regional elections with a total turnout reaching 82.4%, where previously in the 2015 regional elections the number of turnout only reached just 75%. The results of the study show that the strategy used by the Sumbawa Regency KPU in increasing voter participation in the 2020 Pilkada is by increasing socialization to various voter segments, namely, the beginner voter segment, the female voter segment and general correctional. Conduct socialization by holding activities such as KPU Go To School and KPU Go To Campus, KPU also conducts socialization through social media (Fb, Twitter, Youtube, as well as through the official website of the Sumbawa Regency KPU Sumbawa Regency KPU also conducts outreach through electronic media, namely through radio broadcasts and also the Sumbawa Regency KPU is also collaborating with TVRI. The Sumbawa Regency KPU is also providing technical guidance to all election management committees so that they are active in socializing the stages of the election to the public. The inhibiting factor for the Sumbawa Regency KPU in conducting socialization is the first is the will of the community itself, the second is the budget because in this case if there is no budget then the KPU cannot carry it out further, especially going into the field, one of which is conducting socialization. And the third inhibiting factor is the presence of the Covid-19 outbreak which should have been carried out independently freedom is very limited. So as to work around this, the Sumbawa Regency KPU used socialization and conveyed information about the stages of the regional elections to the public through several media such as mass media, print media, electronic media, and social media such as (Twiter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram).
