Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of wives who experience various impacts of verbal violence committed by husbands in early marriages. This study aims to describe the Psychological Impact of Verbal Violence on Ex-Wives in Early Marriage. This research is a qualitative research using data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The subject in this study was one person who was determined by purposive sampling technique adjusted to the criteria of a) Young women aged 13-18 years, b) were victims of verbal violence, c) were divorced. The results of this study are that the subject experienced all kinds of acts of verbal violence, from direct verbal violence, indirect verbal violence, repressive verbal violence and alienative verbal violence. The four types of verbal violence experienced by the subject had different intensities, from low to high intensity. This is in accordance with the form of verbal violence experienced by the subject. The psychological impact of verbal violence experienced by the subject is that the subject feels afraid, sad, hurt, disappointed, regrets himself, feels useless, depressed (stress) and confines himself. All kinds of psychological impacts are still being experienced by the subject to this day.
