Abstract

ABSTRACT

The influence of the use of online media has a fairly large and strong impact in shaping the mindset, attitude and behavior of the public. Because a news story is not a real reality, but a reality that has been managed by journalists and presented in the form of the manager's point of view, this is in line with the phenomenon that the researcher will study, namely the Kanjuruhan Malang tragedy which has news value and has a big influence in attracting public interest to seek information. This research will explain the framing carried out by online media Detikcom, NarasiTV, and Tribunnews.com for the Kanjuruhan Malang tragedy. The researcher uses Robert N. Entman's framing theory with two major aspects, namely selecting issues and highlighting certain aspects of reality, as well as four categorization of elements of the framing model to define problems, estimate causes of problems, make moral judgments, and emphasize treatment recommendations. The type of research for this researcher is interpretive qualitative with the Robert N. Entman framing analysis method. Data collection was carried out by collecting news about the Kanjuruhan tragedy on the online media Detik.com, NarasiTV, and Tribunnews.com. The research results obtained by the researchers show that the online media NarasiTV, and Tribunnews.com through their reporting highlight the use of tear gas by the police. It's different with Detik.com which is more flexible where it highlights the lies and fraud of the parties concerned with the Kanjuruhan tragedy.
