Abstract

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research was to find out the mitigation carried out by the Sumbawa Regency Fire and Rescue Service in carrying out disaster management. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, which is focused on answering research questions related to the questions of who, what, where, and how an event or experience occurs until finally it is studied in depth to find patterns that emerged in the event, by collecting data. using observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The data sources used in this study are primary and secondary data. The data were obtained from interviews that the authors conducted with the heads of departments, heads of operations and heads of supervision and prevention. In this study, the authors concluded that the Sumbawa Regency Fire and Rescue Service is an official agency engaged in the disaster management sector. In carrying out its duties the Fire Service utilizes public information as the main source before carrying out countermeasures. In addition to utilizing the available resources at the scene, the Fire and Disaster Management Service also formed a team called RETKAR (Fire Volunteers). This team has been formed in every Village/District with the aim of being at the forefront of first aid in the event of a disaster in that area. The Sumbawa Regency Fire and Rescue Service also always conducts outreach and simulations to the community to provide understanding and build public awareness in carrying out disaster management.
