Abstract

Today's fast-moving information advancement affects the ever-changing lifestyle. This is due to advances in information and communication technology. Social media has many functions, among others, as a means of conveying or receiving information or sending news, or what is commonly called citizen journalism. This research discusses how the form of Citizen Journalism Participation on the @Semaras_Sia Instagram account. The purpose of this research is to find out how Citizen Journalism Participation on the @Semaras_Sia Instagram account. The research method used is qualitative with a research approach that has two perspectives, namely a study or scientific approach. Based on the orientation of the problem and the data sources studied, this research is field-based using a study or scientific approach with a communication approach method that is more directed towards journalistic activities with a research time of 3 months. This research uses primary data and secondary data through interview techniques, literature study, and documentation. The results showed that citizen journalism has a positive and significant effect on increasing public participation in accessing Instagram @Semaras_Sia from the results of the research conducted, citizen journalism participates every day in sending information and news and the level of participation of citizen journalism in providing information to Instagram @Semaras_Sia is included in the high category, this is evidenced by Semaras Sia Instagram posts which every day there is information or news sent from citizen journalism.
